The early morning air hangs heavy with the scent of salt and anticipation. My guests are still nestled in their cabins, dreaming of sun-drenched beaches and turquoise waters. But I, the captain of this sailboat, am already awake, the gentle rocking a familiar lullaby.

As the first fingers of dawn peek over the horizon, painting the sky in soft hues of rose and gold, I head to the deck. With a practiced ease, I fire up the engine, the sound a low rumble that blends seamlessly with the chirping of unseen birds.

Casting off the lines, I ease us away from the sleepy harbor of Hvar. The small town, usually bustling with activity, is still shrouded in a peaceful slumber. The only signs of life are the occasional bobbing of a fishing boat in the distance and the rhythmic calls of seagulls wheeling overhead.

As we leave the familiar coastline behind, the open expanse of the Adriatic Sea stretches before us, an endless shimmering invitation. My course is set for Korčula, another jewel in Croatia’s crown, and the promise of new adventures awaits.

For now, however, I revel in the quiet solitude of the early morning sail. The gentle lapping of waves against the hull, the cool spray of the sea, and the breathtaking panorama unfolding around me all contribute to a sense of tranquility that is both exhilarating and calming.

There’s a magic to be found in these pre-dawn escapes, a time to reconnect with the rhythm of the sea and appreciate the simple beauty of nature’s grand show. It’s a feeling I cherish, a silent promise of the wonders that await us as the day unfolds, and I can’t wait to share them with my guests when they awake to find us already sailing towards a new adventure in Korčula.
