Danke Seadin!

Sailing in Croatia

Croatia is one of the most favorite destinations for sailors and sea lovers, for a number of reasons, primarily because of the Mediterranean climate that allows sailing in every season, and the best period for sailing in Croatia is from the beginning of May to the end of September. Croatia has a coastline of over 5,800 km and more than a thousand islands, islets and rocks, as well as crystal clear water and beautiful bays. As such, it is ideal for vacation because you are in constant contact with nature, rich history and art that is present everywhere. Sailing in Croatia, whether on a sailboat, catamaran or motor boat, is an unforgettable attraction. These are some of the best starting points for renting a sailboat for your destinations in Croatia: Pula, Zadar, Biograd, Sukošan, Šibenik, Split, Dubrovnik.

  • Pula – For those arriving by car from Western and Northern Europe, the first major city on the coast with numerous marinas is Pula, a city with a rich history that is also considered one of the best places on the Istrian coast and where there are numerous marinas (ACI, Pomer, Medulin..). With its historical core gathered and stretched towards the sea, Pula also offers an exceptional number of beaches and quiet coves, including Cape Kamenjak with numerous coves and rocks. From Pula, you can sail around the islands of Cres, Unije, Lošinj, Susak, Ilovik, Rab, Krk in a one-week route.
  •
  • Kornati – they are located opposite the cities of Zadar, Biograd, Šibenik and are an ideal destination for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Over 140 islands and islets, 90 of which are part of the Kornati National Park, where navigation is easy due to short distances, expect uncontaminated nature, hidden beaches and coves, and numerous diving spots.
  •
  • Split – and the surrounding smaller towns (Trogir, Kaštela, Seget) with numerous marinas are also a perfect base for setting sail and visiting the islands of Brač, Hvar, Vis, Korčula and other smaller islands. Split itself is a lively city located in central Dalmatia. Diocletian’s Palace, a magnificent architectural complex dating back to the 3rd century and in whose underground rooms various scenes from the TV series Game of Thrones took place, is undoubtedly worth a visit. itself the cultural center of Dalmatia, but also a coastal town known for the beauty of its beaches.
  •
  • Dubrovnik – Also known as the pearl of the Adriatic, it is the southernmost city in Croatia. If you decide to sail in the southern part of the Adriatic archipelago and want to discover the southern islands of Mljet, Korčula, Lastovo and numerous smaller islands, you should not skip this destination. With its defensive walls built between the 12th and 16th centuries and the historic core that forms a labyrinth of narrow streets and has been included in the UNESCO cultural heritage list since 1979, the Game of Thrones series made them universally popular.
  •
  • Island of Mljet – Among the many islands where you can sail in Croatia, the island of Mljet deserves a special mention. Located a few nautical miles from the island of Korčula, Mljet is a true green lung of the Adriatic, thanks to the establishment of the Mljet National Park that covers the northwestern part of the island. The quiet beaches of Mljet, surrounded by pine forests and Mediterranean thickets, are one of the main reasons for the island’s popularity.
